Ride Summary: Here's the route for Sunday, a loop from Bergen Park to Idaho Spgs to Squaw Pass from the west and back: Wheels roll at 8:00 am from the Bergen Park Park & Ride in north Evergreen. To get there, take I-70 west to exit 252 (the Evergreen Parkway / Colo Hwy 74). Turn left at the 3rd light, which is CR 65. The Park & Ride is at the corner of 65 and 74. For a visual map of the ride, click here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/ride/united-states/co/evergreen/521708674 From the start, ride west on CR 65 for approximately 2.5 miles, and cross I-70 at the Floyd Hill exit. Turn left on US 40, which serves as the I-70 frontage road, and ride over Floyd Hill and down to the intersection with US 6. Turn left on US 6. After about 1/4 mile, turn left and join the bike path going along Clear Creek. To get to the bike path, you have to go up the base of the exit ramp from I-70, and cross under I-70. Just east of Idaho Springs, at the I-70 tunnels, the path crosses Clear Creek and then crosses the Scott Lancaster bicycle bridge. There is a brief section of dirt road before crossing under I-70 again and riding through Idaho Springs. We ride through Idaho Springs on Colorado Blvd, and take a left on Colo Hwy 103. This becomes the 13 mile climb up to Echo Lake. From Echo Lake, a few more miles of climbing take us over Juniper Pass and to the top of Squaw Pass. After that, it's all down hill back to the intersection with Evergreen Parkway / Colo 74. Take a left on 74 to return to the Park & Ride.

Total mileage: ~ 42.5 miles Total elevation gain: ~ 4258 ft. Total time: variable. Gas stations are available in Idaho Spgs for food and fluids; the Echo Lake lodge also has food and fluids. Hope to see you there!

Any questions, please contact David!  If you are coming please print out these directions and the map and bring them with you!
