Deer Creek Canyon

Training Ride Host: Ben Lieb

Please RSVP by COB Friday to Ben Lieb, blieb@sheridanross.com, (303) 246-4767.

Meeting Location:

Ride will start at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Please arrive early so we can start promptly. Parking lot of Slavens Elementary School at 3000 S. Clayton St. (Clayton and S. Dallas Way)

Directions:

Ride Summary / Distance / Ride Difficulty:

Out and back from University Hills via Chatfield Reservoir to either the top of Deer Creek (50 miles) or High Grade (60 miles).

Ride Description / Route:

From the parking lot we will ride West on Dartmouth Ave. to the South Platte River Trail and then South to Chatfield State Park (about 14 miles). The ride will then head West on West Deer Creek Canyon Road and we will either top out on Deer Creek Canyon or Highgrade Road (depending on the strength of the group). Return will be on the same route for a total of about 50-55 miles round trip. The South Platte River Trial is a great flat warm-up for the stout climbs on Deer Creek Canyon (1600' vertical) and Highgrade (2800' vertical). These make for great, fast descents!
