Saturday, July 4, 2009, 8:00 a.m.Georgetown Loop w Loveland Pass Option (+BBQ)Training Ride Host: Heather Purcell
Meeting Location: Start: 603 Brownell St., Georgetown, CO Rolling out at 8:00am SHARP! Directions: Take the Georgetown exit (#228) off I-70 West; left under the underpass, then Coming into Georgetown , you take a right turn at the 4 way stop (Argentine St.) and stay on this street. This road becomes Brownell near the end. Don't take the uphill fork to the right, this goes to the train. The house is on the right, next to the last where the street ends at 6th. Ride Description: We will start from central Georgetown (great little Victorian mining town, if you ever venture beyond the gas station!) @ 8,512 ft. We’ll ride on the bike path for a while, then the I-70 shoulder (unavoidable) and then up to the top of gorgeous Loveland Pass (11,990 ft). From here you can: 1) Return to Georgetown (32 miles total r/t) or 2) ride to Keystone and then back to Georgetown via Loveland Pass again (57 miles r/t). See map at http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/co/georgetown/783512029. I will likely be doing option #1 because I want to be back in Georgetown for the 4th of July Parade which starts at 11:00am (and will pass by the house!). You are welcome to join us on the porch. Soon after, we’ll have a BBQ at the house, so please bring whatever you would like to grill! Georgetown also has great fireworks, later in the evening. Please RSVP to hpurcell@designonscreen.org or 303-641-5986 by 10am Friday, July 3. Also you can call/email early on Saturday if you have questions about cancellations. __________________________________ |
