Training Ride Host: James "Rufas" Garts.
Please RSVP by Noon Saturday, July 4 to James Garts at Garts@pelegrinradeff.com or by mobile phone 719-930-5190.
Starting Time: 7:00 a.m. sharp. Please show up early so we can be rolling by 7!
Meeting Place:
Take U.S.-6 W/6th Avenue west to I-70 toward Grand Junction (9.3 mi). Merge onto Evergreen Parkway/CO-74 E via Exit 252 toward CO-74 (3.5 mi). Turn left onto Ellingwood Trail. We’ll meet by the baseball fields. I’ve never had a problem with parking but if you anyone would like to carpool I have room for 2 more bicycles and two more people in a pinch. I drive a blue Volkswagen.
Description:
We will cross Evergreen Parkway and ride up Squaw Pass about 17 miles to Echo Lake. The ride doesn’t have the steepest of grades but gains about 3000 feet of elevation. We will stop to rest and gather the troops at Echo Lake. Some may choose to return to their vehicles in Evergreen but anyone willing may choose to continue to the summit of Mt. Evans, which amounts to about another 3000 feet of elevation gain. Bring a windbreaker, sunscreen, snacks and plenty of water. FYI, the temperature difference between the bottom and the top can easily be as much as 40 degrees. I’m planning to do the full round trip and hope to see you there. For more information and photos see www.coloradobicyclerides.com and link to Squaw Pass and Mt. Evans.
Please RSVP to James by noon on Saturday, if you will be going. Check the WoJ Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=58302100863&ref=nf for weather cancellation news by 8am Sunday.
