Hi there Team:

I hope everyone's doing well and enjoying the season! Just a quick update on some exciting developments and opportunities for the Wheels of Justice as we swing into fundraising action for 2008:

Wheels of Justice Reception at The Children's Hospital--A Night to Remember.

Wow! Thanks to all of you who were there (in body and spirit!) for the wonderful "Wheels of Justice" night at The Children's Hospital on October 25. In the terrific setting of the new Hospital, we thanked our awesome sponsors, as well as the cast of hundreds who helped make WoJ '07 a big success for the kids and doctors at Children's. We also presented The Children's Hospital with a big check for $184,383--our total for 2007!  This means that in our first two years of existence, the Wheels of Justice team has raised over $314,000 for Children's.  What a team!

We also heard from Dr. Steven Hunger, the new head of The Children's Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, who described the many life-saving treatments and programs that our funds will be funding.  Dr. Hunger really rocked the house when he committed not only to ride the Courage Classic next year with the Wheels of Justice, but also to personally raise $10,000! Now that's what I call leadership--we'll have to take responsibility as a team for getting Dr Hunger trained for the Courage Classic, to ensure that he has a blast, like the rest of us! He just moved to Colorado from Florida where the highest elevation is 300 ft!

Then Bernie Gheris gave a moving talk on "why we ride" that perfectly captured the special spirit of the Courage Classic--and left most of us blinking back tears. And finally, we were treated to an impressive tour of the new world-class facilities at Children's. Oh, what a night.

Many thanks to Scott and Maura Spangler for sponsoring the beautiful framed WoJ jerseys for our top sponsors: Pryor, Johnson, Carney, Karr and Nixon (our Supreme level sponsor at the $10,000 level); Cooley Godward, Ireland Stapleton and Faegre & Benson (our Barrister level sponsors at the $5000 level). Our other wonderful sponsors all received beautiful appreciation plaques with color photos of the team. Also my deepest thanks to the Leadership Council for so kindly presenting me with the beautiful framed WoJ jersey--a lovely surprise that I will treasure for years to come. I feel so lucky to be on a team with you all.

We are very grateful to Stacy Schafer, Wanda Castleman Steve Winesett and the entire team at the Children's Hospital (including Leslie McKay, Cary Larger and Dr. Giller) for hosting us so graciously and for showing us such a good time!

Let's keep this great feeling and the big mo' going as we head into '08!

The 2008 Fundraising Campaign Is In Full Swing

Our WOJ Fundraising campaign is already rolling. Packets went out to the top 75 Denver law firms on Friday, December 14 and your dedicated WoJ Leadership Council will be starting their follow-up calls this week. Letters to other Colorado businesses will go out in January, as we seek to expand the reach of WoJ into the business as well as the legal world and also seek new support from law firms and business in Boulder County, too.

How can You Help? Please let us know if you think your firm, employer, clients or other business might be interested in becoming a corporate sponsor of the Wheels of Justice in 2008. Sponsorship $$ goes directly to The Children's Hospital and brings a sponsor great media and event exposure throughout the year, as well as the great benefits that come with supporting this terrific cause. Sponsorship levels are: $2500, $5000 and $10,000. Also let us know if you would be willing to make the pitch to the potential sponsor--we find that sponsors are very receptive to joining us when their employees make the right pitch to the right decision maker.  Just let us know what you are up for and we can supply you with a terrific fundraising packet that explains everything. Also, if you have other fundraising ideas, please let us know!

New Wheels of Justice Website is Live!!!

And it looks great! http://www.wheelsofjusticecycling.com/  We are extremely grateful to Alan Garber of Sherman & Howard and Heather Clark and the terrific staff at the Denver Bar Association for making this site possible. Please check out the site and its cool features described below:
